Since the November 1 launch of the Container Refund Scheme, local Queensland charities and community groups have been given an opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment, through recycling. Additionally, the refund scheme, which provides a 10-cent refund for every eligible container returned, which patrons can choose to donate to one of our charity partners, creates an opportunity for charity groups to boost their own fundraising and networking opportunities.

At Return-It QLD, we partner with charity groups, who can choose to offer their shop-front as an Express site for container drop-offs. By getting involved and providing a shop front location, your loyal patrons and donors can return their containers through your site and donate the money directly to your charity. Further still, by helping to recycle containers, you are able to contribute to a cleaner and greener Queensland.

Better still, we’ve done the hard yards for you and come up with a few ways your charity organisation can benefit by getting involved:

1. Raising funds for the organisation

Many Australians are generous when it comes to a giving to charity. An estimated 14.9 million Aussies (81% of the population) donated $12.5 billion to charities in the 2015-16 financial year. By making your shop front available as an Express site for Return-It QLD, you make it easy for your patrons to donate direct to you, which for them can be as simple as dropping their eligible containers off at your site. Further still, you are helping to benefit future generations by creating a greener future.

2. Community support

Encourage the community to donate by partnering with Return-It QLD.

As more charities that partner with Return-It QLD, the more available Depot and Express locations we will be able to provide across the State. With more sites available, it becomes easier for all Queenslander’s to participate in the scheme and in turn, boosts the funding opportunity for charity organisations.

3. It’s good for the environment

It’s pretty simple, partnering with Return-It QLD is good for the environment. Our society and technology are evolving along with our average income and wealth. This means that people can afford to buy more products, more often, which in turn, ultimately creates more waste. A variety of products such as plastic packaging, batteries and glass products are not able to be recycled. Consequently, our environment is taking the brunt of damage from trash, harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses being created by rubbish and landfill sites due to people’s lack awareness around recycling. By making a commitment to help save the environment through a partnership with Return-It QLD, you can help to make Queensland cleaner and greener.
