Return-It is overjoyed by the success of the Nov 1 launch celebration for Victoria’s Container Deposit scheme at our flagship Oakleigh Depot in Melbourne.

Thank you to all those who attended to officially launch CDS Vic – State Government, The Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos, Recycling Victoria, Vic Return, Victoria’s North/West Network Operators Visy and TOMRA/Cleanaway, Mayor Tina Samardzija from Monash Council, the general public and our valued community members.

Representing the community is such an important part of what we do at Return-It, and we were thrilled to stand alongside our partners from SES, Life Saving Vic, Rotary Club and Scouts to celebrate this transformative event.

Special thanks to deadly Boon Wurrung Elder Uncle David Tournier for opening the event with a smoking ceremony to discuss his connection to culture and country, inviting recognition, acknowledgment and reflection.

It was also fantastic to welcome East Bentleigh local super collector, 10 year old Ashton to be the first person to deposit his 200 bottles into our RVM which took a short 5 min! We can’t wait to celebrate Ashton’s goal of collecting and returning 10,000 containers to buy the air hockey table, lego set and monopoly game he’s set his sights on.

Return-It takes pride in being the network operator for the Container Deposit Scheme in the East Zone and looks forward to being a part of the solution in reducing litter in our communities, generating new fundraising opportunities for community groups and non-profits, and becoming a key contributor to Victoria’s Circular economy.

To everyone who attended, we thank you again for your support and presence yesterday. Community representation is at the heart of our Return-It mission.
