HELP Employment & Training Services will become a key partner of recycling initiative Return-It, which is a major operator in the Queensland Government’s Containers for Change scheme.

Re.Group’s container collection arm, Return-It, has established more than 100 Container Refund Points across Queensland, as part of the Government’s Containers for Change initiative.

Return-It QLD cash back depots and bag drop off points allow individuals or businesses to easily return eligible containers, such as bottles, cans, and many plastic beverage containers. Each eligible item will provide a refund of 10c, which the customer can either keep, or opt to donate to one of Return-It’s many charity partners.

Social responsibility is a key component of the Return-It business model. Return-IT QLD has brought more than 100 new jobs to Queensland through its partnership with HELP. Additionally, Return-It pays its charity partners for every eligible container that is returned through their stores, meaning customers are still supporting the charity even when they keep the whole 10c.

HELP Employment & Training CEO, Greg Luck says that through its partnership with Return-It, it has been able to help place people who have been out of the workforce for an extended time period back into paid employment.

“Through our partnership with Return-It QLD, we have been able to place people who have been out of the workforce for an extended period, for a number of different reasons, back into paid employment, and for us there is no better feeling than helping Australians bring a sense of value to their own lives through paid employment,” said Mr Luck.

“We are excited to be a part of the Containers for Change scheme in Queensland, via Return-It and are very appreciative to place people who need and want the work into different jobs with Return-It.

“This initiative complements HELP’s initiative to provide tailored employment solutions to job seekers and employers in Australia, and we are proud to partner with Return-It QLD.”

Return-It Managing Director, David Singh, says the company has taken a similar approach in the ACT, and is proud that one of the first partnerships made in Queensland is with HELP.

“By partnering with HELP Employment and Training, Return-It QLD has brought more than 100 jobs to the state and is committed to developing employment and training opportunities for people who have been out of the workforce for a long time, as well as for Australians who live with disabilities.”

“It is our intention to encourage thoughtfulness in the community, which really plays to scheme’s name ‘Containers for Change’. Return-It benefits the customer, the community and the environment and we can’t wait to see how the partnership grows.”
